A hushed tone remains following the fourth “Welcome to Country” acknowledgement in 1/2 an hour at this remote NSW council meeting.
On the agenda tonight is the motion to remove the 26th of January from the working Calendar… Jessica Smith explains. “We have decided after multiple Welcomes to Country that the only way to eliminate Australia Day is to eliminate the date ALTOGETHER from the calendar!”
It is understood that at the time of publication… many other councils were making similar moves. Saying that it is simply Un-Australian to celebrate Australia day!
